Balls

Busy. Busy at work, lots of rugby matches and gigs to attend, a computer to buy, music to hear. Some pretty brief descriptions today, as it’s getting late.

Download number 19 from here. These are your new leaders;

Apples in Stereo - Can you feel it?
Sunny. I shan’t play their forthcoming album in the car, for fear of dazzling.

The View - Superstar Tradesman
Despite the hype they’re probably getting, there’s no escaping the barely disputable FACT that this is a great single, silly pronunciation and all.

Rilo Kiley - Portions for foxes
I must’ve heard this somewhere recently, because it was stuck in my brain. It’s still good.

Simple Kid - Self-help book
Slow-burning track from a slow-burning album. But it’s of very high quality, and I’m glad I stuck with it.

And you will know us by the trail of dead - Wasted state of mind
They seem to have turned out a much more tuneful album than previously seemed possible. The die-hards will hate it, but I’m finding it difficult to stop listening. This track is particularly excellent.

Bloc Party - The Prayer
With the help of “Jacknife Lee” Bloc Party move backwards to move forwards. I like the electronic hue to this, though.

TV Eyes - She’s a study
Falkner, Manning and Reitzell’s silly electropop album finally gets release. In Japan. Regardless, it contains some great Moroder-esque moments, and this is one of the finest.

Kim Wilde/Charlotte Hatherley - Kids in America
Oh come on, you must fancy one of them. You’re allowed to like pop songs when they’re this good, even if Hatherley’s mid-atlantic drawl is slightly off-putting.

Walkmen - Louisiana
Not quite the successor to The Rat that I hoped for, but it’s nice when the trumpets get going.

Apples in Stereo - Mellotron 1
Another brief bit of Appley goodness.

So, is this local sign the work of Bristol prankster and incoherently-political commentator Banksy? Or some copycat students? If it is Banksy, it’ll be on ebay by the end of the week.

Looks a bit shabby to be the genuine article, but he did use an elephant in his recent L.A. show. Red herring?
